it’s officially spring in the southland

A friend has taken this photo of Bushtits nesting in her orange tree. With cautious binocular watching, she notes:

“a bird came out, and then another came out – so there were two adults there at the same time. Then I saw one go back in. They are quite small and all gray. Maybe the eggs have hatched – because the two birds were probably going out to get food. They eat small insects.”
