Eco Word of the day: Rills
The first eco word is Rill. Rain has been so irregular in the Midwest this year, rills have been appearing in my maze. Perhaps we can discuss them as my water bill has reached house payment size. Mine are small but deep.
This farmland however is losing productivity rapidly.
These are rills, they are formed by drought, erosion, accelerated by invasive tilling or any combination therein. RIlls lead to soil infertility, and loss of productive crop land. Rills turn to gullies which wash away critical bioactive topsoil that produce all things green. Rills are like tears in your clothes, stitch it up or loose the garment. When we lose Mother Earth’s garment, There will be empty cupboards and pantries.
