Park walk

Its spring here, finally
the Ash and Oregon Oak branches are leafing
the Great Horsetail shoots up in droves in the tree understorey,
and spreads its spores, as it has done for over 100 million years,
in among low leafing herbaceous Hydrophyllum
which fills much ground on both sides of this shaded path,
the air is perfumed with bud and pollen
a soft breeze, warmed by a full sun, drifts in pale blue infinity of sky
various bird calls echo my steps
Its spring here, all at once
