#TBT This aqueduct replaced the original 800-foot Genesee River aqueduct in 1842; it stayed in operation until 1918, when the Barge Canal moved the path of the canal farther south. The canal trough was covered and repurposed as the city subway and the the aqueduct became the base of the Broad Street Bridge.
