Bob Goldberg and Paul Lewin along with 2 friends opened Follow Your Heart in 1973 after purchasing the food stand and store for $15,000.00. This store and restaurant specializes in vegetarian and healthy eating. Follow Your Heart began as Johnny Weissmuller’s American Natural Foods in 1970. It was originally a market and food stand opened by the gold medal winning Olympian and actor who played Tarzan in the movies. The first thing the new owners did was remove all meats from their store and menu. In 1976 the restaurant outgrew their first site and they moved the business. This health food eatery and store is still going strong and is only a couple of blocks from their original location. You can find Follow Your Heart at 21825 Sherman Way in Canoga Park.
