to do nothing

a friends' thoughts earlier today...Hitler’s Holocaust began with the arrest (and subsequent torture and killing) of the journalist Fritz Gerlich. Barely two months after attaining power (January 1933), the Nazi party laid the foundation for Hitler's dictatorship with the passage of the "Enabling Act" (March 1933) The legislation was subtitled "The Law to Remove Stress from the People and State" and it gave Hitler the right to pass any law without the approval of the Reichstag.
The Nazis then began a press and radio propaganda campaign portraying any and all of their political enemies as "rats, vermin, and Untermenschen (subhumans)". Concentration camp inmates were dubbed "Stuecks" (pieces) and given assigned numbers because "They do not deserve the dignity of a name". Hitler then went on to call all journalists not loyal to the Nazi party “The Lying Press” and "Enemies of the People".
Why does any of this matter? Because two weeks ago an AMERICAN resident who with a proper work visa had his fingers cut off one by one, then his arms cut off, then his legs. His head was then cut off by Saudi's wearing headphones who listened to music while they butchered him. Meanwhile the President says of Jamal Khashoggi, “Not An American Citizen, None Of Our Business” and “Saudi Prince Denied It Strongly. He is Innocent”.
Journalist Fritz Gerlich's last words were, "The worst thing a citizen can do, the absolute worst, is to do nothing".

Opinion | Jason Stanley: “I think many Americans don’t realize how much of what we’re seeing right now is very similar to the tactics that fascist leaders in the past have employed…this has been happening now for many years, even before Mr. Trump came to power” – NBC News THINK
